Hello.
My name is Lori James. My parents bought the land where the old water mill used to be located just west of 86th and Lafayette road. They fell in live with the land the first time they saw it over 20 years ago and had the opportunity to purchase it. They have a love affair with this land that has been passed on to their children and grandchildren. What we would love to have is an authentic picture of the land with the mill when it was still in existence. It would mean everything for them to have this. I have looked in libraries and on the internet and cannot find a picture. I have researched colonel Hessler who I understand ran the post there, but have had no luck. I was wondering if you could lead me in some sort of direction. Again, it would mean everything to my parents who bought the land and love it like nothing I have ever seen. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I hope you're still monitoring this blog. I recently bought nine 4x5 glass negatives of scenes along the Dandy Trail, all with some sort of Dandy Trail sign in the picture. One reads, "Dandy Trail - 88 Miles Around the City." Two others have signs that include what might, maybe, be dog silhouettes. One other includes another road sign, for Sargent Road, so at least that one was taken way on the other side of town from Traders Point.

The two gents you mentioned, John and James Harmon, are my G-G-G-G and G-G-G grandfathers. James' son James D had a daughter Philadelphia Jane Lemon. Her daughter was Mary Martha (Mattie) Lemon Repass. And Mattie's daughter was Imogene Lemon Repass Monninger, who was my mother.

Is James' original purchase of land in Pike Township where the Trader's Point Creamery stands today? I don't know if an older version of that creamery is related to something my Mom told me years ago in the 50's when our family took a drive to a place out that way where they sold wonderful ice cream. She said it did or had belonged to her family for many years. I was too small to understand all that she said, and I never thought to ask her again since by the time I heard about TP Creamery as it is now, my mother had developed Alzheimers Disease.

Do you think the homeowner would be open to allowing me to visit my family's graves? We never knew they were there.

Does anyone know how to get a hold of the Pike Township Historical Soc? I'm trying to track down a house built in 1930 described as being "three and half miles west of the Lafayette Road on W. 54th St." owned by the Gausephol family. I think it's in or near Green Braes Rd on the west edge of Eagle Creek Res. but I'm not sure. Paul

I was born in Trader's Point in 1955. We lived there until I was about 12 years-old. I long to see photos of the town from this period. The only photo I have is a flood photo. I am sure there must be photos available. Does anyone know how I might get some copies?

Thank you,
Linda
